Story Idea - BirthRight

BIRTHRIGHT

Working Title

The premise is quite a simple one. Despite what all the movies, books and religious texts would have us believe there has never been a war against heaven in hell. Both sides are prisoners in their respective homes and the only contact they have with humans are when the human souls enter their domain.

However God did decree that on a certain date, Lucifer could put onto the earth FOUR of his own children and god would place only ONE, to see who would claim victory over the souls of all mankind.

int the year 1997 that time came. Two woman gave birth at the same time on opposite sides of the earth, one bearing a single male child, the other four, two male, two female. both mothers said they did not know the father of their children and the birth certificates showed this.

Eight years later and the mother of the four has raised them to be kind and generous children but for some reason tragedy seems to follow them wherever they go, as if they were cursed or something.

The single child has found world fame as a young psychic with the gift of second sight, a power which has even the church very interested in the boy.

When the mother of the four is killed by a drunk driver while coming home from work, the children, seemingly out of nowhere, get the idea to seek out their father and so begin their trek across america.

Meanwhile the one child has begun to have visions of four children who may be instrumental in bringing about the end of the world. Teaming up with a priest who may or may not believe the childs story they begin the search for the four.

The Four:

Warwick - The eldest of the four children by ten minutes. For reasons unknown even to him whenever he is around people start to fight with each other over the smallest of things. Such as the time at a local football match when the crowd immediately around him started to riot and 30 spectators were crushed to death in the resulting panic.

Michael - It was always put down to false packaging or a broken freezer or simply being no good at growing things, but whenver Michael is around food it goes bad. Farmers have found entire crops wilted and rotting, mere hours after michael has walked by their field.

Trisha - She does not even know most of her classmates too well as they always seem to be off sick. Children in her class seem the most susceptible to disease and even get illnesses such as the measles and chicken pox more than once in a matter of months.

Christine - Death follows christine wherever she goes. In her short life she has witnessed three suicides, two hit and runs, a police shootout near the shop her mother worked which resulted in the deaths of three police officers, five criminals and two civilians. For some reason she does not seem upset by anything she has seen and take sit all in her stride.

Despite this the Four Children are not evil, they are simply that, children who have lost their mother, their carer and the only person that they had in the world. Now they have an urge, a calling to go north to the place where they just know where their father is waiting for them. A journey that will bring misery and death to nearly everyone they meet along the way.

The one

Joseph - A child who has been haunted by visions since an early age, visions of what has happened and what will happen, enough of them coming true for the people around him to take his gifts seriously.

Around the same time the mother of the four died Joseph started to get his most powerful visions, visions that felt like they would tear his skull apart from the inside. He knows what the four are even if they don't and he knows it is up to him to stop them from finding their father and bringing about the end of days.

So it is a race against time for both sides to fulfill their destinies and claim their BIRTHRIGHT

Movies - Originals or Remakes?

With all the recent remakes of older movies that have been coming out recently, and are due out in the next year or so, it got me to thinking what is better, originals or remakes. My answer of course is it depends on the movie.

Take Assault on Precinct 13, I think the original was a classic and really showed what could be done with a small cast and limited budget. It was creepy, atmospheric and the characters were somewhat believable. The remake was action packed, full of loud explosions, twists turns and the characters were somewhat believable. Or to put it another way, I liked original and remake equally.

Now we look at Dawn of the dead. I hated the original movie, the characters were stupid, the zombies lame and the music was god awful. On the other hand I thought the recent remake was a great movie, not brilliant, just great. It kept me on the edge of my seat all the way through and having the recently deceased zombies running around (after all rigamortis will not have set in yet)was a stroke of genius.

So really I think it should depend on the movie and not whether it is a remake or not. To those people who don't give a movie a chance, and say insulting things about it without seeing it simply because it is a remake...I say get a life. So what if it is a remake of one of your favourite movies? It doesn't take anything away from the original and who knows you might actually enjoy the ride.

Top Ten Movies

So what are my Top Ten Movies I hear you ask (well perhaps you didn't but I will tell you anyway). Right in reverse order (going backwards in other words):

10: One Hundred and One Dalmatians (original Disney cartoon)
9: Jaws (easily the best in the series)
8: The Matrix (Reloaded and Revolutions just sucked big time)
7: Alien/Aliens (joint seventh cuz they both rocked)
6: Terminator 2 (T1000, what a kewl bad guy)
5: Dog Soldiers (the werewolves looked good and the acting was supberb)
4: Spider-Man (I liked number 2 as well but the first was far superior in my eyes)
3: Saw (What a damn freaky movie and the twist in the end was great and disturbing)
2: An American Werewolf in London (The movie that got me into werewolves and it has the great transformation scene as well as the Picadilly Circus attack scene)

and fighting our way to the top spot is...da da da

NUMBER ONE: LILO AND STITCH. I loved that movie, the bit at the end when Stitch is being taken away and he says to the alien chick that Lilo and Nani are his family 'they are small and a little broken, but still good. Ya, still good' or when he is all alone in the woods with the ugly duckling book and he looks up to the sky and says 'I'm lost' those two scenes actually had me crying. I'm a guy whose idea of a good movie is anything with blood. guts and bucketfuls of gore, and I'm getting weepy over an animated cartoon alien. Well if it can have that affect on me it must be a bloody good movie. That is why LILO AND STITCH is number one.

Superman Returns? and more ranting

Right I have just sat down and watched some teaser trailer for this new Superman Returns movie that is coming out some time in the future and one little thought just kept buzzing in my head...why make another film of this god awful character, Were the Christopher Reeve ones not bad enough, or the dumb Dean Cain tv show? Now they seem to think we need yet another rendition of the man of shit

But then I was never a big fan of Superman anyway, far too perfect and not enough flaws. That is unless you count bad disguise ideas as a major flaw, but then how gullible and stupid are the rest of the characters? Look at the workers in the Daily Planet. Here is Superman, a guy they see every day, his face is everywhere, printed in newspapers, on cereal and on everything else you can think of. And then there is Clark Kent, a guy they see every day because the work with him...come on its the same guy with glasses on, how the hell don't they recognise him? You know that is why I used to like the Tick, that series realised the stupidity of the situation and ran with it, you know when he used to wear a suit and tie over the top of his tick outfit but you could still plainly see it, well you could but the rest of the cast couldn't for some reason...classic. But in Superman it is supposed to be a serious disguise.

Picture it:

Clark Kent walks into Perry's office. Perry tells him to take a seat and 'hey Clark' he then turns around and while his back is turned Clark simple removes his glasses. Perry turns to say something else and is like 'whoa Superman when did you get here and where did Clark go?'

That has to be the worst disguise ever. Number two is Robin's, from Batman and Robin of course. A mask that covers only his eyes, and people don't recognise him as the little brat who hangs around with Bruce Wayne. Yeah and what about Batman's disguise, his mask only covers half his face. That is all you need to recognise someone. If you saw, say Jim Carrey's mouth and was ask to identify the person, 90% of you would guess it was Jim Carrey. Yet no one can look at Batman and say that is Bruce Wayne, even tho, like Superman, they see both characters every day and can make comparisons.

Now Spider-Man, there was a great disguise. It covered his entire face and because he was talking through fabric it even disguised his voice, brilliant. But what I didn't get about Spidey was how his powers work through his suit? In the movie they show these little hairs that have grown out of the tips of his fingers which are supposed to answer that question, but then he starts climbing wearing thick gloves and boots. How on earth can those tiny little hairs penetrate through the gloves and boots enough to enable him to climb up walls? I know it is all a bit of fun and not to be taken seriously, but come on can't the creators at least think things through first instead of just expecting their audience just to swallow it and move on?

But I like Spidey, a lot so I'll leave him alone. Why do I like Spidey, well for the simple reason, no Spidey, no VENOM and I LOVE Venom. (Yes I know Venom has his own comic series but he started out in the Spider-Man comics as Spidey's suit so without the first their cannot be the second, tho apparently David Goyer said he had written a script which did away with Spidey. I would love to read that and see how he did it)

Because...

Have you ever stopped and thought hows stupid an answer that is to a question, you know the kind I mean, your wife, mother or whatever comes into the room and tells you to do something, perhaps turn off the computer, tidy your room, get a job...you know the kind of stuff. You ask them why (foolishly expecting some kind of proper answer) and all they can say is "Because!"

Because? what the hell does that mean? Because is not an answer it the the beginning of one, so where is the rest of the answer? It's always "Just because". Talking of stupid unfinished things, why is it when you ask people the time they look at their watch and say something like 'it's ten past'...'ten past what?' I asked for the time, that includes hours as well as minutes. I'll let you off with seconds but still all you get is 'ten past'

I'm sick of people giving me half answers, when I ask a question I expect a full one! Why you ask? Because...Just because

A little thought on Batman and Green Lantern

Now I was watching Batman the other day and yeah it was kewl with all the action and stuff but there was one thing I just didn't get (and this includes the comics and stuff) what on earth made Bruce Wayne think that dressing like a giant bat would make ppl respect him? I mean come on he decides to fight crime by putting on a pair of grey tights, a stupid mask that only covers half his face and runs around everywhere going 'ooh look at me I'm the Batman! I'm big I'm mean and I'm scary'. Well I guess the big part depends on the artist drawing him but still...

Green Lantern? What the heck is up with that name? He has a ring that can create stuff just by his mere thought, where the hell is the lantern part of that? Now if the only power he had was tro glow with a green light then I could understand it but no. And another thing about Green Lantern is that it is the Green Lantern Corp (or something like that) But for some reason the only one (and there are hundreds) that is referred to as the Green Lantern is the human one who returns to earth to be another earth bound superhero, go figure. Tho I suppose its so they don't confuse the poor reader by calling every member of the GLC Green Lantern.

Karnivore Comics

So what have I been up to recently. Well the main thing I did was to join up with the new Comic Book Publishing Company called Karnivore Comics, which is owned and ran by a friend of mine I met through Digital Webbing. Both of these places can be found on the links column.

Why did I join you may ask. Well apart from the owner being a mate and him asking me to he is also going to publish a couple of short storie sof mine in his upcoming anthology "You'll Never Be A Published ***** Writer!" and also because he is interested in my Mythillogical series. Oh yeah I forgot to mention that there has been a slight name change Mythological = Mythillogical.

Ninja Monkey Update

Well I guess it is time for another update. So what have I been up to in the world of the Ninja Monkey.

Well I thought up a new character, a kind of twist on the evil twin idea. This new character is Ryu from another dimension, a dimension where the Ninja Monkey is a force of pure evil and generally not a nice bloke.

And considerign that both Ryu's are equal in skill and strength it should make for some great fights

So that is it for updates on My Ninja Monkey series
