A little thought on Batman and Green Lantern

Now I was watching Batman the other day and yeah it was kewl with all the action and stuff but there was one thing I just didn't get (and this includes the comics and stuff) what on earth made Bruce Wayne think that dressing like a giant bat would make ppl respect him? I mean come on he decides to fight crime by putting on a pair of grey tights, a stupid mask that only covers half his face and runs around everywhere going 'ooh look at me I'm the Batman! I'm big I'm mean and I'm scary'. Well I guess the big part depends on the artist drawing him but still...

Green Lantern? What the heck is up with that name? He has a ring that can create stuff just by his mere thought, where the hell is the lantern part of that? Now if the only power he had was tro glow with a green light then I could understand it but no. And another thing about Green Lantern is that it is the Green Lantern Corp (or something like that) But for some reason the only one (and there are hundreds) that is referred to as the Green Lantern is the human one who returns to earth to be another earth bound superhero, go figure. Tho I suppose its so they don't confuse the poor reader by calling every member of the GLC Green Lantern.
